Faculty Led Study Abroad Programs
Welcome!
As a college professor, I knew of the endless study abroad travel opportunities for students. I suppose I was less aware of the team and the work required to make these trips happen.
I was honoured when asked to create my first ever student abroad program for my students. At my workplace we fondly refer to these as Faculty Led International Programs (FLIP).
Quickly I realized there were a lot of resources for students but outside of the college policies and procedures, there was little information for faculty.
This site is dedicated to faculty and aims to serve as a beginners resource for any faculty embarking on their first travel abroad experience.
A Little About Me
Shannon
I am professor and program coordinator of the Special Event Planning program. I have had the privilege of working with our Services and Global Experiences (SaGE) team to develop the first FLIP for Special Event Planning and Food & Beverage Management students. Together with my faculty partner, we were lucky enough to take 10 students to Pamplona, Spain for two weeks, learning about iconic world renowned events and eating and drinking our way through the Northern Region of Spain.
I hope this site encourages you and excites you to take on your own adventure. At the same time, I hope to calm your nerves and hesitations about traveling abroad with students. Trust me, this experience has changed me for the better. I came home a better professor, colleague, friend and person.
